Ubud Rice Terrace Field

Day 1: Denpasar – Ubud: Arrive at the International Airport in Denpasar, capital of Bali. Head straight to Ubud, often referred to as the cultural capital of Bali. Check into a hotel in Ubud at the end of this one hour journey. Spend rest of the day acclimatizing in the new environment. Take a few small walks. Overnight in Ubud.

Day 2: Ubud: After breakfast start the first full day tour of Ubud. Start the day with a visit to Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA). This is a peaceful and rewarding place to see many wonderful paintings and sculptures and a nice garden. It has both modern and contemporary art on display in two different buildings. You may get to meet Agung Rai himself.

Afterwards, visit Monkey Forest Sanctuary, where you can see monkeys roaming freely. This is a nice place for it has greenery, some old trees, bridges, ancient river and temples with lovely garden. Monkeys do try to snatch anything they can from you. Do not get intimated by this. It is best to buy bananas for them and enjoy seeing them feast on those.
Return and have a relaxing time; hit the pool in the hotel. Have dinner and enjoy a nice sleep. Overnight in Ubud.

Day 3: Ubud: After breakfast at the hotel go for a guided tour to the Elephant Safari Park. You can go by your private car, even though shuttles are also available from Ubud. You can get to know these wonderful animals from close quarters. You can bathe the elephant with a scrub brush and hose. You can ride the elephants in the pond, where both of you get wet. You can also feed them by your hands and take photos with them. Learn about elephant’s ancestry and diversity at the Park’s historical and graphic displays.
Displays of elephant intelligence and their capabilities can be viewed at the Park Arena and elephants can also be seen painting at selected times daily. From the Park’s Gift Shop you can buy an extensive range of elephant-theme products, including elephant paintings, elephant ivory, carvings, clothing, souvenirs and jewelry.
Return after a hectic but wonderful day. Relax and after a nice meal and drink have a nice sleep.

Day 4: Ubud: Set out after breakfast to enjoy the beautiful scenery Bali has to offer. Visit rice fields, streams, jungles and meet beautiful Balinese people in their villages and homes. Meet real farmers, get muddy and try your hand at traditional farming practices. Share a coconut or coffee with these farmers. Return to your hotel after a tiring day. Relax with a drink and enjoy the dinner. Overnight in Ubud.

Day 5: Ubud – Kintamani: After breakfast check out from the hotel in Ubud and start for Kintamani. En route visit Goa Gajah Temple and then Pura Besakih Temple. While Goa Gajah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pura Besakih is the oldest temple complex built on the slopes of Mount Agung, the famous active volcano of Bali.

Later, drive over to Kintamani and check into a hotel. Have lunch and then go on to visit a coffee plantation. Taste the different kinds of coffee given. Bali is famous for Luwak coffee. Buy a few packets of coffee and chocolates. Return to the hotel and take a walk around the hot spring and Lake Batur.

Have an early dinner and sleep early too for you will have to get up arund 3am for Mount Batur climb. Overnight in Kintamani.

Day 6: Sunrise Volcano Trek to Mount Batur – Nusa Penida: Get up around 2.30am and after freshening up depart for Mount Batur Trek, an active volcano. This is a climb of more than 1700 meters and an arduous task. This is not for those with problems in walking.

Guests will start the trek with flashlight in hand in pitch dark. The trekking route is not so difficult though at some places you may need support of the accompanying local guide in climbing hurdles. It will take anywhere between 1.30-2 hours to reach at the top of the volcano. Wait for the sun to rise. In the meantime, go and grab breakfast in the form of bread and omelette and some tea or coffee. It can get quite cold at the top. Guests should wish it does not rain. A clear skies mean you can have clear views of crate and Lake Batur from the top. You can see and feel the warmth of rocks from which smoke keeps coming out continuously.

Descend down the slopes and return to the hotel a tired person. Have breakfast, get fresh and depart for Sanur. From there take a boat to Nusa Penida. For taking the boat you may have to wade through knee deep water. So go in shorts. It is close to an hour speed boat ride to Nusa Penida.

Check into a hotel or villa on arrival. Overnight in Nusa Penida.

Crystal Beach, Nusa Penida

Day 7: Nusa Penida: Spend the whole day in Nusa Penida, visiting various beaches and enjoying sea food. You can hire a two-wheeler bike or a car to traverse various places in Nusa Penida.

Some of the places with breathtaking beautiful locations are Broken Bay, Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, Pandan Beach and some waterfalls. There are plenty of opportunities to indulge in Water sports like scuba diving, water skiing and snorkeling.

Overnight in Nusa Penida.

Day 8: Nusa Penida – Kuta: After a refreshing breakfast in the morning, check out and take a boat to Sanur. From there drive to Kuta and check into a hotel.

Kuta is a hub of urban activities in Bali. You can choose to relax in the confines of your hotel room or go out and enjoy dining at come nice restaurants available in Kuta. You can also take a stroll on the beach in the evening. There is a choice to indulge in some shopping in Kuta.

Overnight in Kuta.

Day 9: Kuta – Airport – onward destination: After a sumptuous breakfast in the morning check out and head to the airport. Take the flight to your desired onward destination.
